Testimony at Texas Legislature September  2006

During the month of  September, the Senate Health and Human Services Committee and the House State Affairs Committee met to hear testimony on the Interim Charges from the 79th Legislature. I was invited to testify at each meeting as a Family Physician, Bioethicist and member of the Board of Directors for Texas Alliance for Life. At the Senate Committee, I showed off my favorite “visual aide” supporting ethical, umbilical cord blood stem cell research, my granddaughter, Roni. Roni had a life saving bone marrow transplant at Fort Worth Cook’s Children’s Hospital when she was 15 months old. Dr. Linda Flower testified on behalf of the Texas Physicians Resource Council.

The House State Affairs Committee meeting was the subject of a news article in the Houston Chronicle.
